A 2 minute 8 second video piece about drift and displacement. The starting point for this piece was a black square on a white background. I wrote an algorithm to draw the square with varying degrees of accuracy using the positions of the corner vertex as the main variable and applying varying degrees of drift or variance from a square towards a trapezoid. The shape was textured using a subset of rules from the main drift number, the programme could pick a seed from the evolving maximum and minimum numbers and draw each frame from this. In part because the calculation times became long I restricted the frame rate and used Adobe After Effects to in-between the frames to reach the desired two minutes eight seconds, this process introduced a number of digital artefacts. The sequence was used as a displacement map to add depth, the audio is built around three chords that change under a sustained chord.
